ACS Relay for Life
This project takes on National Jaycee significance, as the US Junior Chamber is the ONLY non-commercial national sponsor of Relay for Life. All chapters are very proud of their Relay involvement, none more so than the Schaumburg Jaycees. We recently lost a beloved friend, Associate, and Jaycee Ambassador to cancer. We walk proudly together for all of the memories we share of people affected by this disease. When: August 10 – 11, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Where: Alexian Field in Schaumburg, IL
Thanksgiving Food Baskets
Every Thanksgiving, the Schaumburg Jaycees get of families in need from Schaumburg Township. We shop for Thanksgiving dinner (along with food for about a week), package all up, and deliver to the families with big hugs and smiles, about a week before Thanksgiving. What more can you say about a project like this? It speaks for itself.Schaumburg Village Tree Lighting
Lights! Village President! Santa! The Friday after Thanksgiving marks the annual lighting of the Village Christmas Tree. Santa (a well known friend of the Jaycees) arrives via fire truck to light the tree with the Village President, and stays to pose for lots of pictures afterward. The Schaumburg Jaycees also provide face painting, temporary tattoos, refreshments, and fun for the attendees. A great way to kick of the holiday season!Wish Tree
This is it, the project that fires up our Chapter, that makes us lose sleep and LOVE IT — Wish Tree. For over twenty years, the Schaumburg Jaycees have solicited names of underprivileged children from Schaumburg Township, and put their Christmas wishes onto our wish tree. We then work with businesses and individuals in our community to make those wishes come true.Approximately a week before the holiday arrives, we hit the streets to deliver gifts to the kids on our Wish Tree. If you’ve never experienced pure joy, this is a project you NEED to be part of. There is truly nothing else like it.
Christmas Food Baskets
Another project run with the help of the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. We receive names of folks in need at the holiday season, and do some extra grocery shopping for them. These are families who have children on our Wish Tree, and the groceries are either picked up or delivered in conjunction with our Wish Tree project.**OF COURSE, we’ve gotta get the dough for this stuff from somewhere, right?***
The Schaumburg Jaycees run various fundraising projects throughout the year to support the causes and projects we’re passionate about, and we're always looking for new ways to raise funds to give back to the community! We do have one 'Signature' fundraising project.
